THE RACE IS A SMOKE FREE EVENT


Q.  I'm coming from out of town. Where can I stay?
A.  A special discounted rate will be offered by the Wyndham Garden Hotel-University Place. The rate will be $149 per night. Please call 412.683.2040 for reservations and dates available.

Q.  Where do I register?
A.  The Registration Tent is located on Flagstaff Hill. Look for the yellow and white striped tent and the red balloons. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. Chip timed runners must be registered by 8:15 a.m. Registration on Race Day is:
$40  adults competitive chip runner (15 and older)
$35  adult non-competitive (15 and older)
$15  Breast Cancer Survivor
$10 Youth 14 and younger non competitive participant
$25 Youth 14 and under Chip Timed 5k participant
Expect to waite in line.

How do I pick up my chip for the 5K Chip Timed Run?
A.  Chips will be available on Race Day ONLY from 6:00 a.m.- 8:15 a.m. at the Chip Timing Tent (look for the Green Balloons). Runners must surrender chips at the finish line or a fee will be assessed.

Q.  I’m registered but was not able to pick up my race t-shirt.
A.  We are offering t-shirt pickup and registration at the Race Site on Saturday, May 10th, from NOON to 4 p.m. T-shirt pick up will also be available on Race Day beginning at 6:30 a.m. Look for the tent with the orange balloons (next to the Chip Tent).

Q.  Where should volunteers report?
A.  Volunteers are asked to follow the directions on their confirmation email/letter. The Volunteer Sign-In Tent (blue balloons) is located in the middle of Flagstaff Hill. If you are a new volunteer, please go to the Volunteer Sign-In Tent and ask for Karen. Volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt.

Q.  Where are the rest rooms?
A.  At the bottom of the hill on Flagstaff to the left of the gazebo on Frew Street 
     At the Westinghouse Pond
      On the top of the hill on Flagstaff
      On the Race course about half way around


Q.  What about first aid?
A.  Paramedics are stationed at the stage area, finish line and elsewhere throughout the course. In case of emergency, dial 911.
Q.  Where is the starting line? When should I get there?
A.  For the 5K Run,  the starting line is at the back side of the hill behind the stage. Look for the start banner. 5K runners should start lining up about 8:15 a.m. for an 8:35 a.m. start. For the 5K Walk the starting line is on Schenley Drive. 5K walkers should start lining up about 8:30 a.m. for an 8:45 a.m. start. 1-Mile Fun Walk (8:45 a.m.) starts at the bottom of Flagstaff Hill. Walkers line up on Frew Street. Look for the start banner at the bridge to the Carnegie Library.

Q.  What do I do with my pledge money?
A.  Pledges and other donations should be mailed to the Race Office by May 31, 2008. (1133 South Braddock Avenue, Suite 1A, Pittsburgh, PA  15218) Pledge prizes will be mailed by August 1, 2007.

Q.  Am I invited to the Giant Eagle Survivor/Sponsor Breakfast?
A.  The Giant Eagle Survivor Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. Sponsors with a ticket are invited to attend. Survivors with a ticket or wearing their pink race bib/pink shirt are invited along with one guest.

Q.  I am running In Memory/In Celebration of someone. Where can I get a pink placard?
A.  Back placards are provided nationally by RE/MAX and Zeta Tau Alpha. They can be picked up and filled out at these tents: Survivor Tent (pink balloons) and the T-shirt pickup tent (orange balloons).
Q.  Can I bring my dog, stroller or skates to the Race?
A.  For everyone's safety, inline skaters and pets are discouraged from participating in this event.  No strollers allowed on race course during 5K Run.

Q.  Where do I pick up a parking lot shuttle to and from the Race site?
A.  Shuttle service to and from the parking lots is available from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Board the return buses where you were dropped off.
